About us
Originally in 1995, the organization was called PACT (Parents and Community Together). The parents with deaf children decided they would like to speak American Sign Language with their deaf children and wanted to be a part of the Deaf Community. They hosted social events. Eventually, the parents realized that there was not an organization, local nor national, that exclusively supports the language of American Sign Language for deaf children and their families. They also wanted to support families with deaf newborns to learn more about ASL as a viable language of choice for their deaf children’s English literacy development.
So, the founders of PACT contacted deaf professionals to help them set up a new organization where the mission statement would reflect the group’s determination to speak American Sign Language (ASL) with their children. Hence, the Alliance for Language and Literacy for Deaf Children (ALL for Deaf Children) was founded in 1997.
We organize social events and holiday parties for families and a lecture series for the community at large.
